SHREVEPORT, LA - Brenda Sue Johnson Hall-Lazarus, 70, passed from this life into the arms of her loving Savior on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 after a short ill ness. Ms. Hall-Lazarus was born May 14, 1947 to the late Ann Nona Levy Johnson and Thomas Alton Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Thomas Alton "Tony" Hall and Harry Adolph Lazarus, Jr, and her hearing service dog, "Duke".
Brenda attended Line Avenue Deaf Oral Elementary School and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1965. She was a homemaker, ge nealogist, private detective, filmmaker, and writer. Ms. Hall-Lazarus was a member of First United Methodist Church-Shreveport were she and her late husband Harry Lazarus helped start the Deaf Community deaf ministry. She also participated as a member of "Women Make Movies", Pelican Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, Auxiliary Gideons, Gen Com, and was a former member of the Shreveport Chapter of Christian Fiction Writers' Association.
Ms. Hall-Lazarus leaves behind her two sons Thomas Alton Monty Hall and wife Kara, Hank Judson Hall, Sr. and wife Amy; step children Tammy McClain and her husband Red, Laurie Ward and Thomas Hall; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister Shirley Huckabee and husband Glen, many nieces and nephews, her hearing service dog Gizmo, and a host of friends.
Visitation for Ms. Hall-Lazarus will be held at First United Methodist Church Bridge (walk way between Santuary and Hunter buildings over Spruce Street), 500 Common Street-Head of Texas, Shreveport, LA on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 9 to 10 a.m. Funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. in the church Sanctuary. Burial will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at White Hall Methodist Church Cemetery in White Hall, Arkansas.
