Bobby Wayne Potts MSgt

Bobby Wayne Potts MSgt, age 79, passed away on May 1, 2025. He was born on November 21, 1945, in Iuka, Mississippi to Robert Wesley Potts and Martha Avinell (Philpot) Turner.

A celebration of life service honoring Bobby will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, located at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd, Keithville, LA 71047 with Richard Anglin to officiate.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Ann Broughton Potts; and sister, Becky Ward. He is survived by his sister, Martha Lazelle Davidson of Baldwyn, Mississippi; half siblings, Jerry Potts, Glenn Potts, and Rita Taylor; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Bob attended and graduated from Mantachie High School in Mantachie, Mississippi. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force he traveled the world and experienced a variety of cultures. During his service he received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal. He retired after 20 years of service but continued working with the Air Force.

Bob was married to the love of his life, Shirley Broughton, on November 12, 1991, and they were happily married for 33 years. They enjoyed riding motorcycles and were members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Bob and Shirley cared deeply for their pets, spoiling them with love and affection. After Shirley passed, Bob visited her gravesite almost daily, taking flowers and reminiscing about the beautiful life they shared.

Bob is now strolling the streets of heaven with no burdens nor tears. He is reunited with his wife where they once again will live happily ever after. Bob will be remembered by his friends and family for his unique sense of humor, his service to his country, and his love for Shirley.
