Bobby "Bob" Wiygul

Bobby Wiygul, age 94, was born on January 23, 1932 in Mooreville, MS, to James Dexter and Lottie Lyles Wiygul and passed away October 12, 2026 in Lincoln Parish, LA.

He was a 1955 graduate of Ole Miss with a degree in Pharmacy and came to the Shreveport area as a pharmacy resident. He returned to college and after graduation he came back to work at Horton Drug Store on the corner of Centenary and Olive. He later purchased the drug store and it became Centenary Drug which he ran with his wife for many years. After selling out and closing his store, Bobby continued working as a pharmacist with Lewis Youree Drive Drug until his retirement.

Bobby met his wife Louise soon after returning to Shreveport and they were married in March of 1957 in the church parlor of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, where they were long time members. In the late 1950’s Bobby served in the Army as a pharmacist and later served in the Army Reserves. He was a mason in the Joppa No 362 Lodge of Shreveport.

Bobby had many hobbies throughout his life. Some of them included: photography, fishing, squirrel hunting, gardening, making fishing rods, leathercraft, knife making, and working on guns and shooting them. In retirement, he increased his efforts in knife making. He enjoyed selling his knifes at the Gun and Knife shows where he made many friends. He also enjoyed making the local estate sales searching out “treasures”.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers. It is quite a testimony to his resilience that Bobby was able to live to 94 years old.

He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Louise Self Wiygul; his son Gary James Wiygul and wife Melissa of Dubach, LA; his Grandson Henry Addison Wiygul and wife Khaki of Dallas, Texas; 2 Sisters in law Lorie Wright of Cleveland, Tx, and Cynthia Powell of Hornbeck, LA, plus numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Special friends include Kenny and Barbara Forte and George and Christine Tharpe.

Funeral services will be held at Friday at 10:00 a.m. October 16, 2026 at Broadmoor UMC, Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will be held at Beech Grove Cemetery, Anacoco, LA at 3:00 p.m.
