Psalm 104:33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to God while I have my being.

Bobbie Hedges Rains was a woman of family and faith. While surrounded by family and with her favorite gospel songs playing, she went home to be with her Lord on February 24, 2026.

Bobbie Rains was born Bobbie Jean Hedges June 1, 1940, in Shreveport LA. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Hedges. She attended Fair Park High School and was in the marching band. After graduation, she worked for First National Bank, was a realtor for Century 21, and ran a home daycare for years. Bobbie was a lifelong member of Life Tabernacle Church, where she met her husband of 61 years, Lee Rains. Some of her favorite memories involved both the church and gospel music. “Thank You Lord For Your Blessing On Me” was her favorite gospel song. Early in their relationship, she and Lee would sing this song in church.

Bobbie was an avid genealogy researcher for the Hedges and other families. She had an uncanny knack for repairing anything. She especially loved turning nick knacks into lamps…. after Lee would spray paint the items gold. Crocheting afghans was another hobby of Bobbies. Her cooking, especially cornbread dressing and meatballs will be missed by the family. Her years as a daycare owner resulted in countless children in her care being taught how to read, write, and even sew. Bobbie loved watching NFL football, especially the Saints and anyone who played the Cowboys. Bobbie loved to go to high school football games and watch her grandkids play.

Above all, Bobbie loved her husband and honored her marriage. She and Lee’s favorite past time was spending time together. Whether going to gospel concerts, the grocery store (where she bought all the necessities in her cart and Lee gathered all the desserts) or out to eat, being together was the most important thing. She was by his side until his last breath.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters. Left to remember and laugh with memories are her children and multiple grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A private family service will be held for Bobbie. The family wishes to thank Passages Hospice for their kindness and support, and her granddaughter, Presley, to whom appreciation is priceless for her knowledge and dedication to dementia patients.
