Billy Roy Cook of Arcadia passed away on October 18, 2025. He was born February 3, 1940, in Arcadia, Louisiana to Rachel and Roy Cook. Bill graduated from Arcadia High School and served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne during the Korean conflict. Bill was lifelong member of First Baptist Church Arcadia, joining the church on April 29, 1951.
Bill lived a full and adventurous life, guided by his love for the Lord, a deep appreciation for the outdoors, and a spirit that never stopped exploring. He never met a stranger —Bill could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and leave them smiling. His kindness, humor, and easygoing nature made him a friend to all and a stranger to none.
Whether he was traveling to new places, fishing by a quiet river, or watching the sunset from a mountain ridge, Bill found God’s handiwork in every corner of the world. His faith was the foundation of his life.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother Rodney Cook, wife Jackie Cook, grandson Heath Holland, nephew Andrew Kirk Cook and stepdaughter Stacey Hollenshead. He is survived by his daughters Ralene Davis (Rex), Nichole Cook, his son Ryan Cook (Ellyn) and stepdaughters Cindy Watkins (Keith) and Janet Spurlock. His grandchildren Holden Holland (Maria), Darby Lee (Andrew), Heath and William Cook, Finley McKinney, and great grandchildren who will carry on his love for adventure, faith, and his joy in the simple beauty of God’s creation. Bill also leaves behind his sister-in-law Faye Cook, niece Rachel Kyle (Glen), several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and Marge Hackley, who was a very loving companion.
A celebration of life will be held at Arcadia Baptist Church on November 22 at 1:30pm. In his honor, take a drive down a new road, lend a hand to a stranger, or spend a quiet moment outdoors — and give thanks for a life well lived.
