Billy graduated from Fair Park in 1954. He worked at Central Auto Parts until he began his law enforcement career, dedicating over four decades of his life to protecting and serving our community. Billy joined the Caddo Sheriff’s office in 1961, where he served faithfully for 32 years. He also spent two weeks of his vacation for years providing security at the Louisiana State Fair Livestock Barn. Many memories were made and friendships were formed over these years. In 1997, Billy returned to public service joining the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office. He continued his dedication to law and order for more than ten years. Billy’s life long career in law enforcement left a lasting impact on the agencies he served and the lives he touched. Beyond the badge, Billy was a cowboy at heart and certainly dressed the part. He never passed up the opportunity “tipping” his hat and showing his respect for the ladies. He enjoyed riding his Harley until he was in his mid 70s. These are times that he cherished with Todd and his Harley buddies. Billy was a great storyteller and could certainly tell a good joke. He will be remembered not only as a devoted lawman, but a true cowboy who lived life on his own terms.
Billy was predeceased by his parents O.B. and Mildred Lynch and brother-in-law Allen Peters. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Gloria; sister, Charlotte Peters; daughter, Leigh Anne Gregory and husband Mike; son, Todd Lynch and wife Sarah; bonus daughters, Jerrie Pearson, Linda Hill and husband Alton. Grandchildren Aaron and wife Brie, Anna and husband Mason, Damien and wife Sonja, Michelle, Rodney and wife Amanda, Heath and wife Jenna; great-grandchildren, Sean, Addison, Kenny, Lily, Justin and Marleigh.
Honoring Billy as pallbearers will be Jeff Norris, Eddy Settle, Kevin McClure, John May, John Terrell, David Day and honorary pallbearer Kenny Canatella.
