Billie Jean Godfrey Dunn Speir

Billie Jean Godfrey Dunn Speir, age 94, of Shreveport, Louisiana entered into eternal rest on May 10, 2024. She was born on September 20, 1929, in Castor, Louisiana to Joseph Dee Godfrey and Martha Cordelia “Delia” Thomas Godfrey.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Ken Wimer. Honoring Billie as pallbearers will be Justin Dunn, Keaton Dunn, Andrew Walker, Scott Lee, and Mason Dunn. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Wyatt Dunn, Seth Goossen, Conner Walker, Raylon and Walker Dunn, and Levi Dunn. Interment will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Drive in Shreveport.

Billie was a beloved wife and mother. Her love for her family was immeasurable and her children were her life! Billie loved all children, and her grandchildren were the grandest of all to her. She made a special effort to attend every ball game, play, school event, graduation, and wedding. Billie had a quick wit that she cleverly hid but saved for the right moment. She was a woman of faith devoted to God and she never waivered from her conviction. Dementia may have stolen her memories, but she always remembered her family and most importantly she remembered Jesus.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Delia Godfrey; brother, Joseph D. Godfrey, Jr.; husband, Frank R. Dunn; and second husband, J.W. Speir. Left to cherish her memory include her children, Melanie Dunn Ebarb, and Kevin Dunn and wife Trudy Hays Dunn; grandchildren, Justin Dunn and wife Sarah, Shelley Dunn Goossen and husband Paul, Keaton Dunn and wife Brittany, Rebecca Ebarb, and Rachel Ebarb Walker and husband Andrew; great-grandchildren, Mason, Wyatt, Seth, Avery, Aubrey, Raylon, Walker, Conner, and Levi; stepsons, Ricky Speir (Bridget), Teddy Speir (Binky), Roger Speir, and Tommy Speir (Lori); her beloved sister, Norma Godfrey Simpson; nieces, Mona Reeves, Keitha Marcotte and husband Keith; nephew, Scott Lee and wife Anita.
