Billie Price Hunter went to her eternal home October 29, 2022 after a short Illness. Billie was born June 20^th, 1943 to Dee and Genevieve Perry Price at home in Shreveport, La and delivered by her dad. Billie survived two long bouts of cancer. She did this with a smile, a gentle humor and an open invitation to play cards. When you left her you were the one left smiling. Billie drove the school bus with the “Rabbit” in the window for 24 years. She loved her students and always loved their hugs. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Homer for 46 years and an active choir member. Billie drew on her faith as she lived life.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary A. Hunter; two daughters, Connie Primm and Theresa Smith; two sisters, Veronica Price McDow and Shelia Price Rogers; and brother, Stan D. Price.

Billie is survived by her daughter, Tammy Merritt and husband David of Pueblo West, CO; five grandchildren, Sierra Cheyenne, Colton, David Allen, Cristopher, and Sean; nine great-grandchildren, Dyllon, Dixie, Riley, Hunter, Oakleigh, John David, Adalynn, Colt, and Emma; two sisters, Minerva Price Cochran and Theresa Price McCleskey; along with other relatives and  friends.

Billie’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Salmon and Claiborne Memorial Medical Center ICU staff for the care and compassion shown her during her illness.

Pallbearers were David Merritt, Ronald Day, David Allen Hunter, Joe Tharp, Colton Foster, Patrick Canterbury, and Chris McCleskey.

Honorary pallbearers were Eric Sandifer and John Blackwell.

In lieu of flowers honoring Billie, her family suggests memorials be made to Calvary Building Fund or St. Jude.

Funeral Services were held for Billie at Calvary Baptist Church, 1993 Hwy 3062, Homer, LA, on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Steve Beard and Bro. Bobby Krantz, officiating. Interment followed at Holly Springs Cemetery near Homer, LA. Visitation was on Wednesday at the church from 5-7 p.m.
