Billie Jean Alexander

Billie Jean Moore Alexander, age 90, passed away on September 22, 2026, in League City, Texas. She was born on June 10, 1936, in Atlanta, Texas, to Dewey and Lola Mae Moore.

Above all else, Billie was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at approximately 15 years of age, beginning a lifelong walk with the Lord that would shape the way she lived, served, and loved others. Her faith meant everything to her, and she was never hesitant to share it.

Billie had a special way of noticing people. While going about her everyday life, she would sometimes encounter someone who appeared troubled or burdened and simply strike up a conversation. Before long, that conversation would turn to Jesus. She shared the Gospel openly, prayed with people about their needs, and, on many occasions, had the privilege of leading someone to the Lord. To Billie, sharing her faith was not reserved for church; it was part of everyday life.

After arriving to the Mansfield area around 1966 Billie first attended Bulah Baptist Church then some years later Mount Olivet Baptist Church, and in her later years she was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church. Throughout the years, she served the Lord in a number of ways, including teaching Sunday School, attending and supporting women’s groups, and singing in the choir.

Even as she grew older, Billie continued looking for opportunities to serve others. During her later years, particularly between the ages of 70 and 80, she ministered to residents of nursing homes in Mansfield, Louisiana. She spent time reading Scripture with them, praying for their needs, and, perhaps most importantly, simply loving on people who needed someone to care.

That same spirit of hospitality extended into her home. Billie loved to cook, whether it was for her family or for anyone who happened to stop by to visit. Feeding people was simply part of who she was. Each of her children had a favorite meal, which always included a cake or pie. Her famous donuts in the morning were something everyone looked forward to. She made Amish Bread regularly and would share it with family, neighbors, and her church family.

Billie also enjoyed traveling, particularly in her younger years, but continued to enjoy it later in life as well. She made many trips to Colorado over the years and had the opportunity to travel much farther from home as well, including visits to Okinawa, Japan, and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Billie was preceded in death by her first husband Melvin Green, her husband, Glen Alexander; her parents, Dewey and Lola Mae Moore; her son, Lance Alexander; her daughters, Madeline Alexander and Melanie Alexander; and her grandson, Paul Cramer.

She is survived by her children, Gene Phillips and wife Melissa, Glenn Phillips and wife Denise, John Alexander and wife Cindy, Glenda Horne and husband Jason, and Aline Donnelly and husband Nick. Her family legacy continues through 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two more great-grandchildren on the way, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Billie lived a life centered on her faith in Jesus Christ. Her family takes comfort in knowing that the faith she spent a lifetime sharing with others was also the faith she carried with her throughout her own life.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana.

A chapel service celebrating Billie’s life will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Amador Santos, with the eulogy delivered by her son, Gene Phillips. A graveside service will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Hall Summit, Louisiana.
