Beverly Claire McElwee

Homegoing services for Beverly Coates McElwee, 83, of Fairview Alpha, will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 10 a.m. Services will be held at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta, with the family receiving visitors from 9:00 AM prior to service time. Burial will take place at Zion Cemetery. Beverly was born November 21, 1938, to Brother L.C. and Hattie Sue Coates. After a short battle with illness, she left her earthly body and was present with the Lord on April 3, 2022. At age nine, Beverly began playing the pump organ for her dad as he preached revivals. Playing organ and piano became her passion and ministry, and she continued to play faithfully for the Lord and her local church body for her entire life. She blessed a multitude of people in more than seven decades of music ministry. She is preceded in death by her parents, Brother L.C. and Hattie Sue Coates and brother, Billy Coats. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 66 years Michael M. McElwee of Fairview Alpha, LA; sons, Mike McElwee of Monroe, LA and Danny McElwee of Fairview Alpha, LA; daughter, Kathy Tingle and husband, Mark of Castor, LA; grandchildren, Jamie, Heath, Chad, Matt, Ashley, Hannah, Jodi, and Natalie, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Honoring Beverly as pallbearers are Heath Tingle, Dusty Vascocu, Mike McElwee, Danny McElwee, Jerry McElwee, and Johnathan Adams. Honorary pallbearers are Dean Walters and Donnie Cox. The family would like to thank the medical staff at Christus Coushatta Health Care Center for the care and kindness extended to Beverly and her family, along with her church family at Fairview Baptist Church. Her family rests in the promise of 2 Corinthians 5:8, that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
