Betty Ann Waggoner

Graveside Services were held for Betty Ann Waggoner, age 59, at Weldon Cemetery in Weldon, LA, on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Rick Walters, officiating. Visitation was at the Weldon Baptist Church from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service.

Betty was born in Natchez, MS, on November 19, 1963, to Minnie Dillon and James E. Waggoner, Jr. She entered into rest on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in Homer, LA. Betty could out work and out fish anybody. If her brother mentioned being hungry for a banana pudding, chocolate cake, cinnamon rolls or yeast rolls, a day or two later she’d call him to come and get it. Betty had a compassionate and loving heart for others in need and would give anyone the shirt off her back. She loved her dog, Prissy Lynn whom she found at the dumpster. Prissy Lynn was six weeks old when she was found and is now four years old. Betty was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed enormously.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, James E. Waggoner, Jr.; two sisters, Sharon Lynn Waggoner and Patricia Ann Waggoner; and brother, Randy Edward Waggoner.

She is survived by her mother, Minnie Shirey of Bernice, LA: three sisters, Judy Sanders of Farmerville, LA, Evelyn Rogers and husband Rick of Sweetwater, TX, Linda Ebey and husband Alvin of St. Francisville, LA, and Judy Self of Bernice, LA; four brothers, Robert Waggoner of Bernice, LA, David Waggoner and wife Sue Camden, AR, James Waggoner and wife Amy of Weldon, LA, and Joe Waggoner of Ashdown, AR; eight nephews, Timmothy Wayne Davidson, Christopher Lee Moore, Jacob Andrew Waggoner, Lester Sanders, Wayne Vale Ebey, J.E. Sanders, Jeff Gilliand, Jr.,  and Sam Gilliand; ten nieces Melissa Waggoner, Monica Waggoner, Deana Waggoner, Tiffany Doster, Ashleigh Carter, Alyson Prisoc, Jessielynn Waggoner, Amber Ferguson, Denise Hillyard, Nancy Jarreau and Jeanette McGee; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Betty’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Clifton Salmon, Claiborne Memorial Medical Center and their staffs for the care and compassion shown though out her illness.

Pallbearers were Danny Conn, James Laird, Devin Doster, John Cook, Eddy Monk, and Chris Moore.

In lieu of flowers honoring Betty, her family suggest making memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
