Betty Dowdy Singletary

Funeral services for Betty Dowdy Singletary, 83, will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Brother James Greer. 

Betty was born on December 13, 1941, in Tyrell, Arkansas to James Albert Murray and Virgie Easter Owens Murray and passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Shreveport.

Betty was a hairdresser and a private sitter. She was a wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother and Christian. She participated in Bible Study and was a Prayer Warrior. She attended the Cowboy Church in Greenwood and the Spirit of Life Ministries in Keithville. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved Karaoke. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Singletary; son, Rick Dowdy; and 13 siblings. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Randy Dowdy; daughter-in-law, Terri Dowdy; grandson, Clay Dowdy and wife, Holly Dowdy; granddaughter, Kira Gibbs and husband, Jeff Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Kyndol Dowdy, Kolton Dowdy, Kylor Dowdy and Autumn Gibbs; brother, Ray Murray and wife, Ida Murray; and sister, Willa New.

Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Clay Dowdy, Kolton Dowdy, Kylor Dowdy, and Randy Dowdy.

The family would like to express special thanks to Willis-Knighton South, the Intensive Care Unit, and all their staff for the excellent care and compassion given to Betty during her last few weeks.

Betty will be terribly missed, but we will always love and cherish her memory.
