Betty McDaniel Lewis

Betty McDaniel Lewis left this earth on February 23, 2026, after two weeks in hospice care. She was born on August 15, 1950, in Delhi to Eddie Lee McDaniel and was raised by her mother and her close aunt, Lillian Owen.

Betty grew up in Delhi and later moved to Shreveport, where she graduated from Woodlawn High School, Class of 1968. During her school years, she played basketball and ran track.

On April 30, 1983, she married the love of her life, Steve Lewis. Betty worked as a secretary at SWEPCO before becoming a devoted stay-at-home mom. After the birth of her daughter, she assisted her husband in the office of his plumbing company and later worked at Calvary Day Care.

Betty and Steve were proud season ticket holders of the Shreveport Mudbugs and loved cheering them on at hockey games. She cherished her role as a mother and later found immense joy in being “Grammy” to her two grandsons.

Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Lewis; her mother, Eddie Lee McDaniel; and her aunt, Lillian Owen.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Amber Johnson and husband, Kyle; and her two grandsons, Kolton and Kason Johnson.

As a woman of strong faith, we rejoice in knowing she is now at peace, celebrating with our Lord.

A private family burial will take place at a later date.
