Betty LeBlanc Hall, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Greenville, Texas, following a lengthy illness. She was born on December 2, 1929, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Nita (Pellissier) and Simeon LeBlanc.
In 1948, Betty married James Franklin Hall, and together they moved to northern Louisiana and raised four children. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Betty built a life centered around faith, family, and community. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper and later found her calling as the town librarian of the Village of Gilliam, where she nurtured a love of reading in her community.
In her younger years, Betty loved boating and water skiing and spent many afternoons on the “old river” with her boys, making memories. Later, she joined her children and their families on ski trips to Colorado, cherishing the time in the mountains together. She also enjoyed worldwide travel, taking both cruises and trips to Europe over the years, and always returned with slide reels she loved to share.
Betty was a talented seamstress, known especially for the beautiful dresses she created during her years of square dancing, round dancing, and clogging, which were activities she truly enjoyed. She was also a wonderful cook, and her meals were a source of comfort and connection. From her weekly Sunday roast beef with rice and gravy to her legendary Christmas Eve gumbo, the meals she prepared became beloved family traditions.
Her world was anchored not only by family but by friendships that spanned decades. Living in a small, close-knit town, Betty was surrounded by a community that deeply loved her, and she, in turn, cherished the dear friends who shared both her church and small-town community with her. These relationships were loyal and meaningful, enriching every stage of her adult life. She was especially fond of her "Domino Ladies", with whom she shared many good times in her final years in Gilliam.
A lifelong and devoted Catholic, Betty’s faith was central to her life. She was an active member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Vivian, Louisiana, where she served with dedication on the Altar Society.
Betty's life was marked not only by love and joy but also by significant loss. She endured the heartbreak of losing both her sister and her youngest son at a young age: tragedies that would have shaken the strongest of spirits. Through it all, Betty remained steadfast in her faith, and her resilience was a daily example to those around her. Her devotion was deeply woven into her everyday life. Each morning without fail, she began her day in prayer, blessing her family, wherever they were in the world, with holy water. We always knew that, even from afar, Meme was sending us love, protection, and prayers to start our day.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, James Hall; youngest son, David Randall Hall; sister, Emma LeBlanc Farmer; nephews, Mark LeBlanc and Benji LeBlanc; brother, Charles “Buddy” LeBlanc and daughter-in-law, Kathy Parisy Griffith.
She is survived by her children, James Hall, Jr. (Christi), Greg Hall (Becky), and Kristina Womack (Trey); daughter-in-law, Carole Moore, and by her grandchildren, Katie Hall Mendonça (Jimmy), Casey Hall (Tisha), Rebecca Hall Lioi (Tom), David Hall (Katie), Megan Hall Robinson (Brian Reeve), Tanzie Edwards (John), Sarah Kalfayan (John) and Lauren Dupuy (Paul). She was the deeply loved “Meme” to her great-grandchildren, Will Hall, Keely Hall, Kinsley Hall, Grace Smith, Jamie Hall, Harrisen Mendonça, Evangeline Mendonça, Chloe Robinson, Allison Cothern (Chris), Carter Duplantis (Waleska), Mackenzie Lioi, Hunter Lioi, Collins Kalfayan, Case Kalfayan, Luke Dupuy, Lainey Dupuy, Maddox Cothern and Cora Cothern.
Betty loved her children and grandchildren with such grace...always patient, always tolerant, and never judgmental. Her gentle spirit and kindness made everyone feel safe, seen, and deeply loved.
The family would like to thank the staff at Briarcliff Health Center and Ultimate Plus Hospice in Greenville, Texas, for their loving care and attention during her final years of life.
Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Casey Hall, David Hall, Jamie Hall, Will Hall, Tom Lioi, and Trey Womack.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Harrisen Mendonça, Jimmy Mendonça, Paul Dupuy, Kyle LeBlanc, Jake LeBlanc, John Kalfayan, Johnny Walker, and Dr. Stephen Taylor.
