Betty Jean Jones Leach, affectionately known as “Mama Betty” was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She went to see Jesus on November 4, 2026 at the age of 95.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bitsy and two sons: Joe Albert Leach and Lance Eugene Leach; her sister, Dorothy and her parents.
She is survived by her son, Charles Arthur Leach and his wife, Debra; her daughter, Diane Renee McCuller and her husband, Daniel. Betty was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 5, 1931, to William Arthur and Alberta Jones. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Jefferson (Bitsy) Leach on June 11, 1949.
Throughout her life, Betty was known by all for her kind and loving spirit. She always rooted for the underdog and she dared anyone, including their parents, to ever say a bad word about her grandchildren! Betty was soft-spoken, listening much more than she would speak but was very witty in a “sneaky” sort of way. Her lifelong dedication of caring for her son, Joe, was a testament and example to all of living a selfless life of service to others.
Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Luke Hankins, David Hankins, Eli Hankins, Patrick McCuller, Sean Haley, Sean Tully, Sean Patrick Tully, Randy Treadwell and Phillip Pappadakes.
The family would like to thank Willis Knighton Health for the exceptional nursing care and therapy she received at the Progressive Care Center and at the Health Center at The Oaks of Louisiana. The staff treated her with dignity, respect, kindness, and compassion throughout the progression of her illness. We are truly grateful.
Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of NE Texas and NW Louisiana at P.O. Box 7333, Tyler, TX 75711 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
