HOMER, LA: A graveside service was held for Mrs. Betty Lay Kirby at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, Louisiana on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., Rev. John McClelland, officiated.
Betty was born October 7, 1925, in Homer, Louisiana to Chris Andrew Lay and Alice Colvin Lay and died July 8, 2021, at the age of 95.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Homer. She graduated from Homer High School in 1942 and Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee in 1946. Betty was an elder in the Presbyterian Church where she served on many local, state, and national levels.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Kirby, Jr.; her parents and a brother C.A. "Andy" Lay, Jr. Survivors include daughters, Kathy Kirby Seger and Alice Kirby, grandsons, Daniel Bailey Seger, III, (Polly) and Andrew Kirby Seger (Mindy), and three great-grandchildren, all residents of Metro Atlanta, Georgia.
