Betty Juanelle ‘Nell’ Thomas passed away peacefully on Friday April 5th at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was 89 years old.

She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a favorite A\aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Although she left Homer at an early age, living in Dallas and in Memphis, after retirement she returned to the family homeplace on Ruple Road. There she enjoyed the flowers in her garden and watching the birds with her family and friends. She also loved listening to live music at chance available.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years James A. (Buddy) Thomas, her sister LaQuita Campbell, brothers Errol Beavers and Dwight Beavers and her parents Cecil V. and Ethel Beavers.

Nell is survived by her sister Eileen White and husband Kenneth, her children James A. Thomas Jr of Boerne Texas, Sherry Thomas Early and husband John of Las Cruces NM and Susan Thomas. She also leaves behind her cherished granddaughters Beth Thomas, Amie Johnson and husband Nate and her three beloved great-grandchildren, Jayden, Alex and Tori who gave her so much joy. And last but not least her sweet niece Nicci Hayes.

We will remember the many colorful family road trips singing in the car. The trips to beautiful lakes, camping on islands, sailing, boating and skiing at sunrise. “Oh the adventures we had”

We will miss, but always carry with us, her unconditional love, her grace, kindness and beauty.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the staff of Southern Ingenuity, the nurses at Passages Hospice and to Dr Salmon for his kind patience. And most expressly we thank Dorothy Greer for her many years of friendship and care.

In lieu of flowers, Nell's family request memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church, 618 N 2nd Street, Homer, LA 71040 or plant a tree in her honor.

The arrangements for a memorial service will be made at a later date.
