Betty was born in Rayville, Louisiana to Noah Oliver and Arzena Willis Gordon and passed away in Bossier City, Louisiana on Friday, July 30, 2021. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to taking care of her husband and children. Betty loved the Lord and to pray for people in need. She was a firm believer in eating sweets before any meal. Her children say that she made the best chicken and dumplings. Betty left a legacy of nurturing and caring for everyone around. In Proverbs 31, the virtuous woman rises before the dawn and gives food to her household; girds herself in strength; she reaches out her hand to the poor; the teaching of kindness is on her tongue; and her children and husband rise up to call her blessed. Betty Jo Brown was a virtuous woman. This verse defined who our mother was to everyone. She took such wonderful care of all of us. Mom had a heart of gold. She was always there with a loving word, a hug, and an "I love you". Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David Ray Brown and parents. Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Billy Brown and wife, Rhonda and Ronnie Brown and wife, Lisa; daughters, Sarah Hayes and husband, Chris, Linda Zeigler and Nancy Brady and husband, Bruce; sister, Diane Shaw; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Scott Bennett, Billy Brown, Jordon Brown, Josh Brown, Blake Haley, Bo Haney, Chad Hayes and Chris Hayes.
