“Well done thy good and faithful servant” are the words our precious mother heard as she peacefully passed on to a new life on Saturday, April 11th surrounded by her daughters.
Betty Irene Burns Means was born on October 28, 1940, in El Dorado AR and passed on to a wonderful reunion on April 11, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rex Means, her parents James and Violet Burns and her paternal grandparents James and Bertie Burns and her maternal grandparents, George Washington and Gertrude Brown.
She is survived by her three daughters, Lesa (Randy) Ward of Minden, LA, Terri Means Guin of Minden, LA, and Kristi (Greg) Austin of Haughton, LA. Four beautiful granddaughters Rendi (Phillip) Dillard of Minden, LA, Merry (Spencer) Minton of Malvern, AR, Abbie (Parker) Ribble of Alexander, AR, and Alex Guin of Minden, LA. Grandsons, Porter Austin of Haughton, LA, and Parker Austin of Minden, LA. She also was blessed with wonderful sitters, Pat Rushing, Helen Kelly, Tina Franklin, Issie Johnson, and Tina Miles, Sandra Stone and her favorite Physical Therapist Adam Oexman.
While living in Springhill, Betty was a faithful member of Sarepta Church of Christ. Upon moving to Minden, she attended University Church of Christ and North Acres Baptist Church. Betty was a faithful member of North Acres Baptist Church. Betty served faithfully as Clerk of Court for Springhill City Court for 25 years. She loved shopping and spending time with her granddaughters, beloved dogs, playing Pokeno with her friends and making memories at the beach, and attending her grandchildren’s events.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 14th at 10:00 a.m. with service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at North Acres Baptist Church led by Jerry Hodge, Codie Smith, and Jeff Smart. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Means Cemetery in Hampton, Arkansas under the direction of Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana.
Pallbearers are Phillip Dillard, Spencer Minton, Parker Ribble, Porter, Austin, Parker Austin, and Foster Lott.
Honorary pallbearers are Mike Means, Tommie Miller, Roy Stringfellow, and Martin Cole.
Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Southern Christian Home, Morrilton, AR, or the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice and Heritage Manor of Haynesville for their loving care of mom.
