A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Dr. Scott Holmes of Gateway Church. Betty was born on February 16, 1938 in Ferriday, Louisiana to Ernest J. Hughes and Ruthie C. Shelton Hughes and passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Betty was a secretary in the construction industry for many years, married to the love of her life, Ralph Richardson for 49 years until his death in 2014. She was wonderful cook and enjoyed putting meals together for large groups. She had a definite green-thumb and loved growing all kinds of plants. She was a generous giver to all. She was sacrificial, especially where her children were concerned. She would do without herself before seeing her children do without anything they needed. The only thing she would not give away was the recipe to her delicious banana pudding! She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchild, and would show you their pictures at any given moment! She loved her church, Pinecroft Baptist Church, where she and Ralph served for many, many years and she sang in the choir. But above all, she loved Jesus Christ with all her heart! Betty is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Ralph Richardson and siblings, Ernestine Hinton, Howard "Bud" Hughes, Helen Jackson, Mary Bird, Oma Thornhill-Smith, Shirley (Chuck) Hughes, Ann Hinds, Francis Sue Caldwell and son-in-law, Tom Hill. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dianne Hill; son, Jackie Richardson and wife, Alane; grandchildren, Sarah Johnson and husband, Jeremy, Elisabeth Bell and husband, Steve. Travis Richardson, Dylan Richardson, Tyler Richardson, David Johnson, Morgan Johnson and Braylee Bell; brother-in-law, Reuben Carpenter and sister-in-law, Joan Carpenter and a host of nieces and nephews.
