Funeral Services for Betty Hines Francis, age 84, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. March 12th, 2022, at Emmanuel Baptist Church Minden with the Rev. Matt Cate officiating assisted by Rev. Mike Wilkes. Burial will follow at Woodard Cemetery in Taylor, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Visitation will be Friday, March 11, 2022, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church Sanctuary in Minden, Louisiana.
Betty was born February 27, 1938, to Bessie Chandler Hines and Herman Hines and passed away peacefully at home Wednesday March 9, 2022.
Proceeding her in death were her parents, her husband Charley, her daughter Debbie Shelley, her brother Chuck Hines.
Betty is survived by her two sons; Danny and wife Schelley, Dean and wife Jenifer, Grandsons; Josh Davis and wife Angela, Turner Francis and wife Madison, Trace Francis and wife Sarae, and Shelby Francis. Great Grandchildren Skylar and Hannah Davis.
Betty grew up in Gibsland and was a graduate of Gibsland High School. She enjoyed going and participating in Gibsland reunion activities.
In 1956, Betty and Charley wed and lived most of their adult lives in Minden where they raised their family and made many lifelong friends. Both Betty and Charley worked and retired from the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant.
Betty spent many hours of her life at baseball fields watching one family member or the other playing ball. She could be seen in the concession stands helping or sitting on the sidelines cheering "Her Boys" on. She was well known for her PB and J sandwich at the Griffith Concession Stand.
Betty was well known for her love of cooking. She was never happier than when she had a large crowd that she could cook for.
Betty and Charley were longtime members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Minden, joining as a young family and continuing on through their adult life.
Betty leaves behind her longtime friend of over 60 years, Patsy Marks. These two were more like sisters than friends...sharing many laughs and tears through the years. The Marks' family are always a part of any Francis family gathering.
A special thank you to longtime friend Grace Eskew for the special love and care given to Betty. The family appreciates all the prayers, visits, food, and phone calls during this difficult time. To all the people from Southern Ingenuity, Inc. and sitter Kathy Sprawls, Passages Hospice and nurse Wendy Wood we extend a special thank you for making the last few years easier for her and the family.
Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Ken Marks, Kevin Marks, Randy Shelley, Royce Green, Ronnie Davis, and Jeff Hines.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Parker, Mike Eskew and Jerry Coleman.
