Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Betty Rose Ford Dauzat, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday June 20, 2022, at New Hope Baptist Church of Athens, with burial to follow at Old Athens Cemetery. Bro. Eddie Ballance will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time.

 

On Thursday, June 16, 2022, Betty Rose Ford Dauzat died peacefully in her sleep at approximately 4:30 am, knowing that her sister, her children, her grandchildren and countless friends and extended family loved her dearly.  Ever a faithful servant of the Baptist faith, she was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, George Dauzat, her parents and several brothers and sisters. 

 

Betty was born on November 25, 1947, in Natchitoches, Louisiana to Leeona and Louis Alfred Ford.  She was raised in Pineville, LA, graduating from Pineville High School in 1965.   Her chosen profession was nursing and she ultimately retired from the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola as a nurse.  She married the love of her life, George Dauzat, on July 29, 1967, and their love endured 53 plus years, until his death in 2021. 

 

Betty is survived by her sister, Bobbie Sue Cunningham of Dover, PA; sons - Wayne Dauzat (with wife Michele) of Minden, LA, and Shawn Dauzat (with wife Missy) of Denham Springs, LA, grandchildren (Caleb, Cameron, Emma and Riley), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her husband, George Dauzat, her parents Leeona and Louis Ford, sisters Lois Sterns, Earnest Lee Ford, Dorothy Wells and brothers Herbert Ford and James Kenneth Ford. 

 

Betty’s family would like to thank the staff at Town and Country Nursing Home, staff at Passages Hospice, the New Hope Baptist Church of Athens, LA family, and staff of Arcadia Rose-Neath Funeral Home.   Special thanks to Brother Eddie Balance, Nurse Haley Monroe and Administrator Janet Dumas of Town and Country and Nurse Wendy Wood and Administrator Carlie Day of Passages Hospice.
