Betty Birmingham

Betty Birmingham entered into eternal rest on September 26, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023 located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be The Rev. Rowena White. Immediately following services, please join us for a reception and celebration of Betty in the Parlor of St. Mark's Cathedral, located at 908 Rutherford Street, Shreveport, Louisiana.

Betty was born in Monroe, La on September 15, 1942, to William and Francis Fudickar.  She graduated from Bastrop High School in 1965 and attended Northeast for a year.

In 1967, she moved to Shreveport where she found her church home and family at St. Mark’s.  Betty worked at Goodwill, Volunteers of America and as a teacher’s aid for a time.  She also volunteered at Schumpert and New Horizons.  She was a devoted member of her church and loved to visit and tell stories.  Betty touched and inspired so many with her faith, strength, determination and resilience in the face of her physical limitations.  She has been freed of those physical constraints and peacefully went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 26, 2023.

Betty is survived by her sister Libby, many nephews and nieces, her children Bill and Jane, and her granddaughter Rose and grandson Gage.

The family wishes to express special thanks to all at St. Mark’s and to each and every parishioner and friend who loved and cared for Betty for decades.  The family also wishes to thank Susie Davis, Jessica Brown, and Defoshia Barrett for their kind and loving care of Betty.  The family also sends special gratitude to Fire Station #7 – her heroes.  There are too many to name and who are thanked for breathing God’s love and light into Betty’s earthly world.  She is now basking in God’s eternal love, joy, light and peace.

For we walk by faith, not by sight
