In later years, Betty's passion for design extended to garden and outdoor living space design. As a Louisiana Master Gardener, designed, planted and maintained a beautiful outdoor living area within her subdivision which was enjoyed by both her and her neighbors for many years. Active in the Louisiana State University Master Gardener Program, Betty participated each year in the group's Tour du Jardin as a guide and host. She volunteered for many activities and particularly enjoyed participating in the Program's annual plant sale each Spring. In lieu of flowers, it is Betty's wish that memorials be sent in her name to Friends of the Red River Wildlife Refuge, 150 Eagle Bend Point Road, Bossier City, LA 71112.
