Bessie Mae Nicholson

Graveside services for Bessie Mae Nicholson, 98, will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Jim Rabb. 

Bessie was born on October 29, 1925, to Zebedee Morris and Pearl Brown Morris in Purdon, Texas and passed away peacefully at home in Shreveport on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

Bessie was a resident of Shreveport and a proud member of Shreve City Baptist Church where she loved singing in the choir. In her earlier years, she worked at The Shreveport Times in the Engraving Department along with her husband. She enjoyed beautiful flowers and loved to crochet.

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, Zebedee and Pearl Morris; husband, Charles O. Nicholson; three brothers and three sisters. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Steve Nicholson; daughter, Susan Nicholson Young and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Steven O’Conner Nicholson, Jr., Kelly Schmidt and husband, Stevie, Lyle S. Young, and S. Katelyn Young; great-grandchildren, Shaffer Nicholson, Steven O. Nicholson III “Conner,” and Abigail Schmidt.

The family would like to express special thanks to Bessie’s church family at Shreve City Baptist Church for all their visits, phone calls, lunches, and love they gave to her. It always meant so much.Bessie will be greatly missed but her family and friends will always love and cherish her memory.
