Bertha June Thompson Orton

Funeral services for Bertha June Thompson Orton, 83, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be held at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent. Officiating the service will be Brother Larry Simpson.

Bertha was born on June 16, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Jessie Mack Thompson and Mildred Morrell Thompson and passed away April 23, 2026 in Paxico Kansas.

A devoted single mother, she raised two children, son-Harold L Potter Jr and daughter-Stacey Potter. After many years of dedicated, employment, she retired from AT&T. She loved shopping, gardening, and spending time with her grand-kids. She was fortunate to find her true love and soulmate, Robert (Bob) L. Orton, with whom she shared many adventures, traveling and creating memories. She will be remembered by all for her strength and determination, her laughter and silliness, and her ability to love so freely.

She is preceded in death by husband, Robert L. Orton; parents, Jessie Mack and Mildred M. Thompson; brothers, Jordan Leon and Robert Paul Thompson; sisters, Louise E. Woodard, Fannie Lorene Potthast, Alma Laverne Frain, Lillian S. Broaddrick, and Martha L. Brantley and her cherished son, Harold Leroy Potter Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Stacey Spradling and husband, Darrel of Paxico, KS; daughter-in-law, Donna Potter of Stonewall, LA, granddaughters; Amber Potter and Ryan Hall of Stonewall, LA, Tiffany Potter and Cody Cunningham of Bossier City, LA, Shelby Spradling and Kody Hardman of Topeka, KS, and grandson, Robert Potter of Paxico, KS, five great-grandsons, Landon and Logan Hall of Stonewall, LA and Brayden, Hunter and Axel Cunningham of Bossier City, LA, and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Honoring Bertha as pallbearers will be Darrel Spradling, Robert Potter, Ryan Hall, Landon Hall, Logan Hall, and Brayden Cunningham. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Cunningham and Axel Cunningham.
