Bertha Mae Shaw Bernal

Funeral services for Bertha Mae Shaw Bernal, 101, will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath. Officiating the service will be Bro. Greg Sutis.
 
 Bertha was born on November 3, 1922 in Cherina, Texas to Thomas Oscar Shaw and Ona Mae Stanley Shaw and passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at home in Shreveport.
 
 Bertha was a resident of Shreveport. She enjoyed crocheting and fishing but her real passion in life was her family. She built the house that she was living in upon her death.
 
 She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Shaw and Ona Mae Smith; husband, Adolph S. Bernal; three brothers; and one sister. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Appolonia Overby and Eva Marie Rogers; sons, Adolph L. Bernal and wife, Mary Bernal, and Joe A. Bernal and wife, LaRue Bernal; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
 
 Honoring Bertha as pallbearers will be Tim Young, Troy S. Bernal, Larry Bernal, Eric McCoy, Daryl Rogers, and Bruce Wynn.
 
 The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Shermica Hawkins and Delphine Robinson for all the care, love, and compassion given to Bertha.
 
 Bertha will be greatly missed but the family will forever love and cherish her memory.

The family welcomes all guests to a reception immediately following the graveside service at Southern Hills Recreation Center, 1002 W Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, LA 71118. Food donations may also be brought to the center.
