Bernice Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice Johnson will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Arcadia, with Bro. Johnnie Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Bernice was born May 2, 1934, to JD and Irene Kirkham Smith. Bernice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Bernice was very crafty. She was an avid baker, making and decorating cakes and wedding cakes, and also loved gardening. She worked at Broyhill Furniture. Bernice was also highly active in her community and was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Historical Society. Bernice will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Bernice is preceded in death by her husband Ted Johnson, grandson Bart Boyd, brothers John, Hester, and David Smith, and sisters Lodee Hawkins and Joann Cook. 

Left to cherish her memory is her son Mitchell Johnson, daughter Paula Boyd, grandson Caleb Boyd and wife Christy, great grandchildren Brooklynn Boyd, Brianna Boyd, Alec Brown, and Bryce Brown, brother Bobby Joe Smith, sisters Sharon Kay Calhoun and husband Earl, Lorrie Culver, Debra Myers and husband Larry, Minnie Wall, and Patsy Murray, and by numerous other nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Honoring Bernice as pallbearers will be Phillip Towns, Mike King, Ronnie Karriker, Pete Rogers, Josh Kidd, and Alan Crawford.
