Bernadine Soltis Holder, age 81, of Stonewall, Louisiana, passed away on June 18, 2026.
Born on September 30, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, Bernadine lived a life marked by faith, compassion, determination, and an unwavering devotion to her family and community. A faithful member of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, she was known for her generous heart, strong spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Bubba" Holder Sr.; her son, James "Jimmy" Holder Jr.; her great-granddaughters, Aubrey Denise Holder and Avery Grace Holder; her parents, Jean and Andrew Soltis; her sister, Ann Davenport; and her brother, Andrew Soltis.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Holder and wife, Yumiko Holder; her son, Jeffrey Scott Holder; her sister, Carol Randich; her grandchildren, Ashley Jones, Jeremy Holder (Haley Holder), Tyler Holder, Hunter Holder (Brandi Holder), and Madison Holder; her great-grandchildren, Isaiah Jones, Gabriel Jones, Jeremy Holder Jr., Kylee Holder, Brayleigh Holder, Levi Holder, and Violet Holder; her great-niece, Wendy Cline, husband David Cline, and their daughters, Tarah Cline and Elizabeth Cline; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A licensed hairdresser for many years, Bernadine never met a stranger and rarely held back her opinion. She possessed a larger-than-life personality that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was strong-willed, fiercely independent, and never afraid to stand her ground.
Her faith was evident not only in her words but in her actions. She devoted countless hours to helping others through church outreach programs, organizing Christmas Angel Trees, preparing holiday food baskets for families in need, and visiting hospitals to bring sandwiches, comfort, and prayer to families waiting beside loved ones in intensive care.
More than anything, Bernadine loved her family. She helped raise her grandchildren and played an important role in shaping the lives of those she loved. Her guidance, strength, and presence created memories that will be treasured for generations.
A graveside service will be held for Bernadine on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Gloster Trinity Cemetery in Gloster, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr. in Shreveport, Louisiana from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Though she will be deeply missed, Bernadine's legacy of faith, service, strength, and love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
