Bennett Morgan Kitchings

Funeral Services for Bennett Morgan Kitchings, 86, will be 12 Noon, Monday, January 27, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel, with Rev. Allen Upshaw officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 P.M. Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Martin Cemetery in Martin, LA. Visitation will be Monday, January 27, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Bennett was born October 1, 1933 in Martin, LA the son of Phillip Bennett and Ellie Mae Kitchings. He entered into rest January 25, 2020 after a short illness. Bennett was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years Alice Hood Kitchings; his sister, Anita Kitchings Ross; brother, Phillip D. Kitchings and his best friend of 45 years, Mark Williams. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Dr. Steven Bennett Kitchings of Shreveport, daughter Keri Allison Kitchings of Shreveport; sister, Sherry K. Jones of Martin, LA and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Bennett moved to Shreveport after graduation from Martin High School where he began working at A & P for several years before joining the Caddo Sheriff's Department and the Juvenile Court/Detention Center for more than 33 years. He enjoyed his retirement by working in his yard, with his faithful companion "Thor" and growing a garden with his famous tomatoes that he shared with everyone. Pallbearers are Jeff Jones, Phillip E. "Kit" Kitchings, Bret Buseick, James Hertz and Chris Dehondt. Honorary Pallbearers are Terry Norris, Maxie Kitchings, Jerry Kitchings, William Glenn Morgan, Jerry Webb and Marilyn Williams. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
