Barbara was born August 9, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, to Raymond and Linda Buchanan. Barbara passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 18, 2022, in Benton, Louisiana. Barbara retired as a school bus driver for Bossier Parish Schools after 22 years of service. She was one of the founders of the Benton Band Boosters and helped kick off the first funnel cake fundraiser at the Red River Revel. In addition, Barbara was a girl scout leader. The Benton Riding club was also something that she was actively involved in when her daughters were younger, and she was the secretary for the Benton Riding Club during those years. Before moving to Benton, Barbara worked as an insurance underwriter, blazing the way for women in business. She was a loving, kind, and giving person with a heart of gold. Primarily known as \"Mamaw,\" she always gave back to the Benton Community. She loved to read, color, fish, travel with her sister, and bake. She was famous for her peanut butter cookies with the girls' softball team. She spoiled her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by baking and cooking whatever they wanted. If mama said no, ask Mamaw. She had extraordinary faith in God and was very involved with her church family. She was well known and adored and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Barbara is preceded in death by her loving parents and beloved husband, Jerry Shillcutt. She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Ward, husband, Gary, Becky Laborde, husband Scotty, Deborah Sauseda, husband David; sister Patricia Robinson, husband Al and son Paul; grandchildren Ryan Combs, wife Ashley, Jennifer Bolden, husband Jared, Veronica Corbin, Samantha Parker, husband Boone, Jeri Kahre, husband Zach; great-grandchildren Mackenzie Combs, Madison Corbin, Carter Bolden, Graden Bolden, Connor Combs, Jacob Corbin, Cason Tridico, Wyatt Kahre, Rebecca Parker, Raelynn Parker with many loving nieces and nephews. She loved reading the bible and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ, and she requested for her funeral the following prayer, \"When I am gone, don\'t grieve for me, for I will be where we all long to be, in heaven with Jesus, finally with all who have gone on before me in a happy reunion with our loved ones. The Lord to look after me, oh what a glorious day it will be when we meet again.\" Honoring Barbara as pallbearers will be Ryan Combs, Jared Bolden, Zach Kahre, Boone Parker, Al Robinson, Don Roberson, Herschel Cobb. Gary Teague, Paul Robinson, and David Roberson will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to give special thanks to Lifepath Hospice Team, Kaitlyn Exline, RN, and Kayla Fowlkes, CNA, along with her dear friend Faye Liddell. Loved family member Herschel Cobb who was the candle lighter on her wedding day will be playing piano for her celebration of life service on Wednesday.
