Barbara Ann Rhodes

A celebration of life for Barbara Ann Crawford Rhodes, 87, will be held June 15, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. “Babs” as most knew her, stepped into the arms of Jesus on May 29, 2024. A visitation will be held prior to the celebration service from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, LA.

Babs was born January 2, 1937, in Henderson, TX to Ann Turner Crawford Tucker and Garrett Crawford. She grew up in Henderson and Longview, TX, then moved to Shreveport, LA where she met and married the love of her life, James E. Rhodes. Together, they were very active in the Shreveport community for over 60 years.  Babs was a Room Mom, PTA Chairman, Scout Leader, Sunday School teacher, seamstress extraordinaire, floral creator, plant whisperer and an amazing cook - always having abundant food ready and a listening ear for the many that just “stopped by!” She was a beloved wife for 65 years, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother, a dear friend to many, as well as an adopted grandmom to most!  Her children and grands were her greatest delight. She loved her Savior in quiet but BIG ways and made her home the one that all wanted to visit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brother, Jerry J. Crawford.  She is survived by daughters, Kay Wallace (Stephen), Jill Simons (Gary) and son, Jim Rhodes (Melissa) and brother, Jack G Crawford. Grandchildren include Britney W. Smith (Jordan), Blake Wallace (Allison), Benjamin Wallace (Stephanie), Shelby S. Forrest (Ryan), Rhodes Simons, Tori T. Tagaloa (Tawna), and Colton Pimpsner.  Bab’s great-grandchildren include Levi, Nora, Grace, and William Smith; Stephen, Andrew, Caleb, Danielle, Joe and Mary Kate Wallace, Tui Tagaloa and Baby Forrest (due in Oct).

The family would like to thank their friends and the Touchmark Assisted Living/Memory Care Staff as well as the Life Springs Hospice Staff of Edmond, OK for the loving care and support provided for our mom over the last few years.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the  Alzheimer's Association.
