With her eyes lifted to heaven, Barbara Ann Flippo, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on September 20, 2026. A funeral service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held at Rose Neath Funeral home in Mansfield, LA, on September 26, 2026 at 3:00pm with Sheila Woods officiating and special music by Gordon Woods. Interment will follow in Grand Cane Cemetery, in Grand Cane, Louisiana. The family will have family time from 1:00-1:30pm, friends welcome to visit with the family from 1:30-3:00pm.

Barbara was born on April 3, 1944, to Pierce and Vera Avery in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents. She loved dearly and is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Roy, 64 years of marriage. Barbara retired after over thirty years working at Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent/Avaya. She was a member of Gloster Baptist Church for many years and as of late attended Word of God in Shreveport.

One of Barbara’s greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She relished being outdoors, planting flowers, gardening, mowing the lawn and fishing. Yes, even at 82, she took pride in mowing the yard on her large zero-turn mower. She also enjoyed going to the beach in Florida and Alabama, not just to enjoy the beach but to buy fish to bring home to prepare throughout the year. Barbara had made this trip since she was a little girl and often spoke about the sweet memories with family. She would always recall the memories of going to Shreveport Municipal Auditorium as a little girl to listen to country western music. She loved to listen to the music of that old time as loud as it would go on the TV or stereo.

Barbara loved the Lord, her savior, and looked forward to going to heaven and seeing Him and all of her family members that had gone before her. It would not be surprising to enter her house and hear the gospel music of Jimmy Swaggert and the preaching of the gospel, blaring from the TV.

She also loved politics, especially Donald Trump. She was often very passionate about her views and our country, praying often for our country and its future.

Left to cherish her life and memory are her husband who loved her immensely, Roy Flippo, her son, Terry Filippo and wife Rachel Campbell, son, Jeff Flippo, son, Jonathan Flippo and wife Stacey Flippo. Grandchildren: Madison Flippo, Lauren Alban and husband Mathew Alban, Joshua Flippo, Isaac Filippo, and Ella Filippo. Great Grandchildren: MacKenley Goebel, Mason Goebel, Easton Gibson, Oliver Alban and Anna Sophia Alban. She also leaves behind her sister, Sandy LaCroix and husband, Don LaCroix, and brother Jim Avery. In addition, a host of extended family, and friends.

She will be greatly missed.

Honoring as pallbearers will be Darrien LaCroix, Caleb Hamm, Jason Hamm, Kyle Scott, Phillp Thomas, and Jarod Avery.
