Avis Murlene Smith

A Celebration of Life for Avis Murlene Smith, 97, will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at First Bossier, 2810 East Texas Street, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Forest Park West, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be Brother Robert Finley. Murlene was born February 6, 1924 in Athens, Louisiana to John Mask and Stella Van Hooser Mask and passed away Friday, December 3, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Murlene graduated from Athens High School. She played basketball and participated in track and field. On April 11, 1942 she married Edward Paul Smith. She worked as an inventory specialist for various industrial supply companies. Murlene's passion was caring for her family, friends and anyone in need. She was loving, caring and steady as a rock. Murlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Smith and seven siblings. She is survived by her sons, James Ronnie Smith and wife, Kay, Michael Paul Smith and wife, Celena; grandchildren, Sean Smith and wife, Cheryl, Doug Smith and wife, Teresa, Erin Nix and husband, John, Ian Smith and Connor Smith; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
