DUBACH, LA: Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Ava Miller, age 68, at Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Lisbon, LA, on Friday, December 18, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Lance Huckaby, officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Springs Cemetery in Lisbon, LA. The family will receive friends at the church from noon to 1 p.m., prior to the service,
Mrs. Ava was born on May 29, 1952, in Haynesville, LA, to Claude and Frenchie Burton Charles. She entered into rest on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, in Monroe, LA. Mrs. Ava loved raking and burning leaves in her yard during the fall. She especially loved spending Friday and Saturday nights at the races with her husband and friends. Mrs. Ava enjoyed sitting on her porch in her swing and going to her grandchildren's ballgames. She was always willing to cook anything at her grandchildren's request. Her specialty was her no-bake cookies. Mrs. Ava was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was known as "Mamaw Ava."
Mrs. Ava was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Charles; sister, Claudia Pickard; and grandson, Blake Ambrose.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Johnny Miller; four sons, Gary Goode of Lisbon, LA, Bobby Miller and wife Cindy of Quitman, LA, Allen Miller and wife Angie of Dubach, LA, and Brian Miller and wife Stacy of Simsboro, LA; sister, Ann Wright of Springhill, LA; brother, Gerald Charles of Calhoun, LA; thirteen grandchildren, Dillon Goode, Brett Goode, Chris Andrews, Olivia Fitzgerald, Leyton Miller, Kassie Emanuel, Kylie Dotson, Morgan Clarkson and husband Campbell, Mason Miller, Josh Miller, Brandon Black, Anna Black, and Amy Ambrose; six great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Jayci, Tyler, Oliver, Alice, and Garrett; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Leyton Miller, Mason Miller, Josh Miller, Chet Ovitt, Chris Ovitt, Allen Tapp, Campbell Clarkson, Chris Dotson, and Greg Deason.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Black, Wyatt Ovitt, Brett Goode, and Dillon Goode.
