Ashley Leah Springer was born in Houston, Texas to Pam and John Springer. She grew up in Bel Air, Maryland where she spent her childhood and teenage years as a traveling competitive gymnast and friend to many. Then, as a young mom at the age of 19, Ashley moved down south and later established herself in Mississippi where she started her family.
To honor her family’s lineage and share her love of teaching, Ashley became an educator. She was a teacher for many, many years and made a direct impact on every student she taught. Over the years, countless students have shared how much of an impact Ashley made on their lives, and several of them have shared wonderful stories about her; including how she was always their favorite teacher, even after so many years.
Ever since Ashley was a child, she always cared deeply for animals, and she found a way to help them in any way she could. Ashley also had a deep passion for English and science, and she loved sharing her knowledge about these topics with others who were willing to listen.
Ashley loved her four grandchildren like no other and thought the world of them. She is survived by her two daughters, Savannah and Emma McGhee, her four grandchildren, Liam Sanchez, River McGhee, Archie Hunter, and Oakleigh McGhee, her mother Pam Springer, and her cousin who she considered a sister, Kim Bannon. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Gunter Peele Funeral Home in Columbus, MS, on Sunday, September 20th, 2026 at 2PM to honor Ashley. Everyone is invited to come share their memories of her and bask in the legacy she left behind.
