Arvis “Al” Harper, 90, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away August 23, 2025. He was born October 16, 1934 in Heflin, Louisiana to Simmey and Laura Harper.
Al was devoted to his beloved wife, Patsy Harper, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. A family man through and through, he took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always beaming with joy at their accomplishments. Known for his quick wit and impeccable timing, Al had a gift for making people laugh. He never missed a chance to tell a good joke—and always nailed the punchline. His warmth, humor, and genuine kindness made him a friend to all who knew him. Al was truly loved by everyone he met and will be deeply missed.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; son, Reginald Harper; and brothers, Opliss L. Harper and Norvell L. Harper. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Harper; granddaughter, Christy Dunn; grandsons, Christopher and Joshua Harper; great-grandchildren, Carter, Nona, Anisten, and Sage; and sister, Earline Davis.
A graveside service honoring the life of Al will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025 located at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, LA 71111. Officiating the service will be The Reverend Tony Welty Rector of All Saints Anglican Church, Shreveport, LA.
