Funeral services celebrating the life of Arthur Rufus Herring, age 75 will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019 at Line Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 8182 Rodessa Ida Road, Ida, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Wayne Adams pastor of the church. Interment will follow in the Line Creek Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation on Thursday, June 6th at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, LA from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Rufus was born in Hosston, LA on December 14, 1943 to Arthur Lee Herring and Lillie Merle Ward Herring and passed away on June 4, 2019 at North Caddo Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was a rig operator and a member of Line Creek Baptist Church, Ida, LA. Rufus loved to fish and hunt and spend time with his family.
Rufus was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Merle Herring; brother, Jerry Lee Herring; son, Terry Glenn Herring and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alton and Syble Carter. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 55 years, Wanda Kaye Carter Herring of Ida, LA, children, Dub and Tammy Harris of Ida, LA, Tim and Lindsey Herring of Ida, LA and Steven and Kristi Stanfield of Oil City, LA; siblings, Samuel Merle Herring of Longview, TX, Jimmie Thompson and husband, Gerald of Ida, LA, Ira Eula Rogers of Vivian, LA and Alice Carter Kirkland of Pineland, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Terry Dustin Harris and wife, Katie, Kassie Harris and fiancé, Clint Alexander, Mikah Daniel Entrekin, B. T. Herring, Baleigh Stanfield, Jacob Paulette, Rylen Stanfield and Marly Kay Herring; one great grandchild, Carter Reed Harris and a host of other family members and friends.
Honoring Rufus as pallbearers will be Dusty Harris, Mikah Entrekin, B. T. Herring, Michael (Kirky) Kirkland, Johnny Smith and Clint Alexander. Honorary pallbearers will be Rylen Stanfield and Jacob Paulette.
