Arnold "Andy" Laney Anderson

A man who lived a life most men would dream of multiple times over, and one very few have truly achieved. Andy was born in Pueblo, Colorado, in 1945, to Alcus and Mary Anderson, both of whom served in the Navy. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his only sister Cynthia Ferno, and his loving wife Penny J. Anderson. He is survived by his only son, Adam L. Anderson, his grandchildren, Ashley L. Evans-Newman, Kristopher C. Evans-Newman, Anna L. Anderson, Angus L. Anderson, Austin L. Anderson, and Alise L. Anderson, and numerous extended family members and loving friends.

Andy lived a life full of public service and dedication to duty, serving 22 years in the United States Army, Special Forces (ending his career as a Command Sergeant Major), 12+ years in law enforcement with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office (with the highest position held of Chief Deputy), did personal security protection for several years, and served as a firearms instructor with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. In addition to his professional career, Andy was a Freemason, volunteered his time as a youth hunters' educator, youth shooters' educator, and youth orienteering instructor in DeSoto Parish, touching the lives of countless members of his community through his love of the outdoors and hunting.

Andy was a child of God and lived a life dedicated to following Christ. He was a member of Pelican Baptist Church since 1979. He also attended Wallace Baptist Church over the past few years. Andy recently made the proclamation of faith when he rededicated his life to Christ. When Andy went to meet the Lord, this world lost a son, husband, father, Papa, Uncle, cousin mentor, leader, and loving friend to innumerable people. He has been the inspiration behind numerous people achieving dreams they didn't believe were possible. His loss will be felt by the people whom he impacted for many generations. He passed away on July 21, 2025. A memorial service will be held at Pelican Baptist Church, 187 Commerce Street, Pelican, Louisiana, on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers foundation. There will be food and fellowship after the service.

 Forever loved, never forgotten.
