Annie Waddle Melvin

Annie Waddle Melvin, 69, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on May 1, 1957, to parents, Sevelle and Mary Waddle. She entered Heaven on October 7, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.

Annie married Rickey Melvin on April 8, 1982 and had two sons, Rickey Melvin, Jr. and Brock Melvin.

She worked in Calvary Shreveport’s Pre-School Ministry from 18 years old until she was in her 60s. She loved working with children; she has seen multiple children go from her four-year-old class to accomplish many milestones, from educational accomplishments to starting families of their own.

She worked at Herring Dental Lab for over 30 years where she became good friends with her boss, Rodney Herring.

Annie loved her family fiercely, and they loved her. She had to put up with three hard-headed boys for so many years.

Annie is preceded in death by her parents, Sevelle Waddle, Sr. and Mary Waddle; brother, Sevelle Waddle, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Don McKown.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Rickey Melvin, Sr.; sons, Rickey Melvin, Jr. and Brock Melvin; brother, Gene Waddle and wife, Wendy Waddle; sister, Lynn McKown; multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and numerous cousins and friends.
