A funeral service for Annie "Ann" Bell Shaw Elliott Rhodes, 90, will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Airline Baptist Church, 4007 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery, 515 Everett Street, Ruston, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Harrell Shelton.
Ann was born June 20, 1931 in Vernon, Louisiana to parents Arthur Chester Shaw and Lois Juanita Gay Shaw, and passed away March 19, 2022 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Ann graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelors and master's degree in Secondary Education. She was the first teaching staff member hired at Meadowview Elementary for 26 years. She was also the first staff member hired at Stockwell Elementary for six years. Ann was a Bossier Parish school teacher for 32 years. Ann's hobbies included crocheting, collecting tiny bells, traveling, visiting with people and playing card and board games. She loved her family and kids. Ann is going to be missed greatly by all.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Calvin Rhodes; brother, Alva Augusta Shaw; sisters, Murel Juanita Shaw Chandler, Joan Shaw. She is survived by sons, Mabry Edwin Elliott, James Arthur Rhodes; daughter, Anita Gail Elliott Cost; brother, Arthur "Bud" Williams Shaw; sister-in-law, Patsy Myrtis Barnette Shaw; along with numerous stepchildren and their children; granddaughter, Belle Alexandria Cost.
Honoring Ann as pallbearers will be Brandon Wimberly, Russell Henry, Clyde Matthews, Matthew Henry, Dean Patterson and Jimmy Goins. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Andy Fazenbaker, Mark Singleton, Shorty Shaw, Billy Chandler, Rel Shaw, Al Shaw, Mark Hughes and John Hall IV.
The family would like to thank the staff of Nightingale Hospice and Amedisys Hospice Care with a special thank you to Ann Isaac for coming three times a week to take care of her. Along with a special thank you to BCOA Activities staff and the activity directors, Carol Segalhorst, Marilyn Crestwell, Cathy Thomas for all they did for Ann to make her feel loved and cared for.
