Anna Laura Dowden

HOMER, LA: Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Anna Laura Marcus Dowden, age 92, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 East 5th Street, Homer, LA, on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Donnis Ashworth officiating, as well as Rev. Robert McGaha and Rev. Brian Thurman participating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be on Friday, November 27, 2020 in Beckom Cemetery, Hornbeck, LA. Mrs. Dowden was born on July 11, 1928, in Anacoco, LA, to Frances Monroe and Leola Snell Marcus. Her Homecoming Day was on Monday, November 23, 2020, in Homer, LA. Mrs. Dowden was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who served her Lord faithfully throughout her life here on earth. Mrs. Dowden was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billie J. Dowden; and two brothers, Rev. Lonnie S. Marcus and Frank M. Marcus. She is survived by her son, Mike Dowden and wife Betty of Shreveport, LA; two daughters, Suzanne Dilsaver and husband Nick of Homer, LA, and Jana Johns and husband Jerry of Tulsa, OK; three grandchildren, Carleigh Bowland and husband Coty of Shreveport, LA, Marcus Dilsaver of Homer, LA, and Anna Johns of Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Dowden, her family suggests memorials be made to American Heart Association or Susan G. Komen Foundation.
