Ann Miles Robinson

Ann Miles Robinson, a lifelong resident of Shreveport, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the age of 96. A private, graveside memorial service will be held September 22, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery. Officiating will be Jacob Dickson, Commissioned Pastor for Care & Connection of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Robinson was born June 14, 1930, in Shreveport, graduated from C.E. Byrd High School and attended Centenary College where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. At that time, she met the love of her life, Thomas Williams Robinson (Tom) and were married September 22, 1951.

She was dedicated to her family and making the best for them. She was fond of saying “all we can do is try” when presented with a seemingly insurmountable task and was a master of making something so special out of nothing. All were welcome in her home and around her table where she would prepare feasts regularly. Ann was an exquisite seamstress, especially designing and smocking children’s clothes, and enjoyed gardening and keeping their manicured yard in bloom.

Ann worked for the Overton-Brooks VA Medical Center for over 20 years assisting veterans with their health benefits. She was always involved in community work through her memberships in the Shreveport-Bossier Junior League, First Presbyterian Church, the Cotillion Club, the Demoiselle Club

Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Williams Robinson, her parents Robert Preston Miles and Anabel Finley Miles and her sister, Jean Miles McGowen.

Her survivors include her son, Howell Clay Robinson, III; daughter, Lisa Robinson Andress and husband, Knox; grandchildren, Dr. William Knox Andress and wife, Caroline; Elizabeth Andress Kennady and husband, Chris; Emily Ann Robinson; Martin Thomas Robinson; great-grandchildren, Robert Knox Andress; Gray Thomas Andress; Barron Knox Kennady, Hudson Thomas Kennady; nephews, Norris Cochran McGowen, III, Robert Miles McGowen and wife, Cheryl; niece, Jeanie McGowen Middleton and husband, Chris, along with numerous grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to those who were so supportive and caring during Mrs. Robinson’s later years. Special thanks and heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary care from the staff of Live Oak and especially, to the West Wing of the Health Center at Live Oak.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport, 900 Jordan, Shreveport, La 71101 or the donor’s charity of choice.
