HOMER, LA: Funeral services will be held for Anita Arlene Carey, age 83, at Pleasure Point Baptist Church 495 Pleasure Point Road, Homer, LA, on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Chuck Johnston, officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA. Anita was born November 1, 1938, in Smackover, AR, to Willie C. and Doris Jones Carey. She entered into rest on Sunday, December 12, 2021, in Bossier City, LA. Anita was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved making memories with her entire family. She loved and served her Lord, Jesus, all her life. Anita was very athletic and played softball, volleyball, and basketball, as well as bowling. Mamie, Mom, and Anita sat on the porch many times shelling peas and telling stories, by the end of the night everyone had purple fingers. Anita who was known as "Neitzi" taught and played "Chicken Foot" with her grandkids. Anita was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two sons, Carey Crumpler and wife Donna of Sanger, TX, and Jon Crumpler and wife Keeta of Homer, LA; her daughter, Paula Patterson and husband Kevin of Spicewood, TX; sister, Mary Jane Smith and husband Gary of Homer, LA; two brothers, Charles Clinton "Buddy" Carey of Homer, LA, and David Carey and wife Virginia of Galliano, LA; twelve grandchildren, Shaun and Lu Crumpler, Natasha Crumpler, Travis and Tetyana Hess, Amanda and Chance Sanders, Colton Crumpler, Clinton Crumpler and Becca, Presley and Tyler Lindsey, Jason and Allyson Patterson, Crystal and Robert Gagnon, Haley Patterson, and Heather Patterson; eighteen great-grandchildren, Hayleigh, Brooklyn, Noah, Mila, Kairi, Dexter, Madelyn, Jaxson, Drew, Kinleigh, Kemper, Cameron, Hollyn, Peyton, Emma, Reid, Rhett, and Josie Arlene; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Clinton Crumpler, Colton Crumpler, Jason Patterson, Andy Widmer, Michael Carey, and Mickey Carey. Honorary pallbearer will be Gary Smith. In lieu of flowers honoring Anita, her family suggests memorials be made to Pleasure Point Baptist Church.
