Andrew Chance Summers

Andrew Chance Summers of Shreveport, Louisiana, came into this world on May 14, 1991, a happy and loving child, as was his nature, to his devoted parents, Scott and Susan Summers of Spearsville, Louisiana. He left this world far too soon, on April 29, 2024.  Funeral services for Andrew will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana.   A visitation will be held in the chapel for the hour prior to the service.  Officiating the service will be Pastor Dave Fortuna.

Andrew was the sweetest baby and sweetest man you ever met.  He never met a stranger and always has a smile on his face.  His best friends were his brothers, they would fight like cats and dogs, but loved each other fiercely.  He enjoyed reading to and playing with his nephews, letting them crawl all over him.

Andrew loved John Wayne movies, ice cream, going to the farm, shooting guns, and sitting by the campfire.  His love for the New Orleans Saints was evident all year long!   He always looked out for his friends, valuing loyalty, and faithfulness.  He was a person who loved everyone.  His held close family both close and afar, this was part of what fueled his love of history and studying the past.

His grandparents were a huge part of his life.   He was living with his Maw Maw when he passed. They were two peas in a pod.  He was ‘always down’ for a stay at his Mimi’s house in the ‘bat cave’. If Grannie and Grandaddy said they were cooking breakfast (or any meal), he was there! He was a big help with yard work and housework.  It made him happy to make others happy.

Andrew is survived by his parents, Scott and Susan Summers; grandparents, Donna Summers, Patricia Kennedy and Linda & Ralph Summers; brothers, Marshall Summers and wife Becky, Garrett Summers and Noah Summers and nephews, Joey Summers and Levi Summers.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of support, including calls, texts and food.  Instead of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to Holy Angels, 10450 Ellerbe Rd. Shreveport, Louisiana 71106 or the NWLA Veterans Home, 3130 Arthur Ray Teague Pkwy Bossier City, Louisiana 71112.

We ask that you wear Saints attire to the funeral to honor Andrew’s love for the New Orleans Saints. ‘Who Dat?!’
