Andrew (Andy) Fredieu, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 28, 2025, leaving behind a life shaped by simplicity, solitude, and a deep connection to the land and water.
Born on October 8, 1964, Andy spent much of his life in the woods, where he found peace away from the noise of the world. His favorite place was the lake, whether fishing, watching the sunrise, or simply enjoying the quiet. Some of his best memories were made fishing with his father, a tradition he cherished throughout his life.
Andy worked at Kroger for many years, where he was known for his steady presence and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he found fulfillment helping on the farm with his close friend David and tending his garden, which he cared for with pride and patience. Whether growing vegetables or simply enjoying the process, the garden was another place where Andy felt most at home. He was always there for his friends, ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or help with whatever was needed.
He is survived by his son, Jacob Fredieu, Jacob’s wife, Noah, and their three sons, Walker, Waylon, and Wyatt. His love for his son and grandsons was real and present, even in his quiet way. Andy also leaves behind four siblings, Wendell, Jerry, and spouse, Priscila and spouse and Charlotte and spouse; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Fredieu, and mother, Tommy Faye “Marie” Fredieu, both of whom he carried with him in memory.
Andy lived simply, worked hard, and found joy in the things that mattered most.
There will be graveside services on August 9, 2025, at 10:00 am at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 220 Hamill Street, Oil City, LA 71061. The service will be followed by a celebration of life for Andy’s friends and family at Narrow Gate Cowboy Church, 17718 Hwy 1, Vivian, LA 71082.
