A Graveside Service for Amelia Pickett Weldon, 88, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Florien, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Rev. Amelia was born November 17, 1937, in Bastrop, Louisiana to Claude and Katie Boughton Pickett and passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in Shreveport.
Amelia Weldon, a devoted wife, mother, and retired registered nurse, passed away leaving a legacy of love, care, and dedication.
Amelia graduated from Northwestern State University, where she earned her degree to become a registered nurse. She spent decades caring for others in her community, a calling she dedicated herself to until her retirement at 75 years old.
For 62 years, Amelia was married to the love of her life, Alton Gene Weldon, building a life rich in love and shared memories. Her greatest joys came from her family and her home; her favorite hobbies included raising her children, tending to her plants, and always finding new projects around the house.
Amelia is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Katie Pickett; and her husband, Alton Gene Weldon. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Debra Jones and husband, Jeff, Danny Weldon and wife, Cynthia; grandchildren, Megan Hunt and husband, Aaron, and Peyton Williamson and husband, Brentt; two great-grandchildren that are on the way; sisters, Carol Telano and Linda Hudson; brothers-in-law, Bill Weldon and Billy Brasher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Weldon, Danny Weldon, Billy Brasher, and Aaron Hunt.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at The Chateau at Montclaire, as well as Dr. David Abdehou. We are also grateful for the wonderful care she received from the nurses and staff with Passages Hospice.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
