Amelia "Millie" Kate Cannon

A funeral service for Amelia “Millie” Kate Cannon will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2023, at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

How do you begin to write about grief, about loss, of one so young, so pure, and so good? The simple answer is that you don’t. Instead, you write about her smile, her joy, her beauty. You write about those who love her, whose hearts she captured, and the light she shared with the world. You write about love, for her and from her, and the memories that will never fade away.

Millie was born on May 9, 2022, to her loving parents, Conner Cannon and Kaitlyn Long. From the moment she entered the world, Millie stole the hearts of her entire family. She inspired happiness with every sweet smile and delight with every perfect giggle. Though she was taken from us far too soon, she will always serve as a reminder of the simple, perfect love that only a child can express and evoke.

Millie now rests in the arms of her loving Granddaddy, Pawpaw Boot, and Uncle Adam, along with all others who went before her. Her memory will be forever celebrated by her parents, Conner Cannon and Kaitlyn Long; her big sister, Peyton Cannon; her grandparents, Suzanne and Scotty Sharp, Ray and Samantha Crooks, Ricky and Terri Long, and Justin Cannon; her great-grandparents, Susan Flynn and Millie Barkley; her aunts and uncles, Katelyn Flynn and Evelyn Preslar, Trent and Samantha Sharp, Ashley Sharp and Tanner Baumeister, Collin Sharp, Seth Sharp, Hunter and Veronica Long, and Lexi and Cameron Bergen; and the rest of her extended family, Katie and Casey Fuller, Robert and Lynnette Thompson, Clint Cannon, and Sarah and Troy Coker, among many others.

To our beautiful girl: You came to this world as an angel without wings. Now that you’ve gained them, we know you’ll fly high, watching over us all, until we finally hold you close once more.

You brought to earth a perfect light, Your smile reflected the joy within, In our hearts, we’ll carry you evermore, Until you’re in our arms again.
