Funeral services for Alice Jean Brooks, 84, will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Friday, May 13, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor James Hanks. Alice was born in 1937 in Isola, Mississippi but lived most of her life in Shreveport, Louisiana where she met her husband, Donald Brooks. She was married at the age of 14 and had six wonderful children. She was married for 63 years. In her younger years, she loved playing softball, volleyball and enjoyed bowling. In her later years, she played cards and dominoes and loved entertaining people with her imitation of Minnie Pearl. She loved having a big family and all the family get-togethers. She also loved her church family at Oakmont Church of God and being the greeter and giving out lots of hugs. She worked as a manager for Kmart for 21 years and Brookshires for five years before retiring. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Brooks; parents, O.V. Huffstickler and Loraine Smith; son, Charlie Brooks; two brothers, Charles, and Gerald Huffstickler; two sisters, Annie Mae, and Clara Fay; and her stepfather, Benny Smith. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeannie Moton and husband, Mike, Connie Griffin and husband, Byron, Bobby Brooks, Ralph Brooks and wife, Renee, Roger Brooks; special daughter-in-law, Renee Brooks; special sister-in-law, Juanita Huffstickler; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; 16 bonus grandchildren; siblings, Virginia Hale, Bobbie Martin, and Melissa Hebert and husband, Bruce; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Honoring Alice as pallbearers will be Cody Brooks, Chase Brooks, Chris Atkins, Chandler Griffin, Dusty Brooks and J.R. Brooks. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Cory Brooks. The family would like to express special thanks to Jessica Brooks, the granddaughter of Alice, with Superior Hospice for all the wonderful love, care and compassion given to her grandmother. Also, thanks to Shonda and Larissa for all the care and support given to Alice as well.
