Alice Etoye (Ayers) Woods, 94, of Bryan, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on June 24, 2026, following a short illness.
Born on February 7, 1932, in Many, Louisiana, Alice lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She attended high school and later completed trade school, where she studied business. Though educated in business, Alice found her greatest calling as a homemaker, devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful pastor's wife.
Alice had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. She never met a stranger and had a way of accepting others as family. Her home was a place of warmth and hospitality, where holidays were filled with laughter, delicious home-cooked meals, family gathered around the table, and friends who were welcomed as if they had always belonged. Her generous heart and nurturing spirit touched countless lives.
Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and caring for her family, a role she cherished above all else. Alice was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star, where she faithfully served as a Past Matron and was honored with an appointment as Grand Representative to Arizona from Louisiana. Her dedication to both her faith and her community reflected the servant's heart she carried throughout her life.
Alice found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved cooking meals for those she loved, reading, quilting, gardening, attending church, and participating in the Eastern Star. Whether tending flowers, stitching a quilt, or preparing a meal, everything she did was done with love and care.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Mitchell; her son, Keith Woods (Berry); her grandchildren, Renee (Huck), Paula, Nathan (Janice), Allison, Jennifer, James (Katy) and Missy; and her great-grandchildren, Lee (Jessica), Morgan, Karlie, Maranda, Alicia, Nicholas, and Brea. She also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and all those whose lives were enriched by her kindness and unwavering love.
Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence Woods; her sons, Lonnie Woods and Bill Woods; and her three sisters.
Alice's life was a beautiful example of unconditional love, steadfast faith, and selfless service. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, hospitality, and devotion that will continue to live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
